Whom will you serve?

I am reading The Women's Devo Guide to the Bible...and loving it... Here is an excerpt from what I read today.

Reading Josua 24:15

{Joshua had to make a decision upon whom he will serve.  Then, true to his character throughtout his long life, he plainly and resolutely announced his decision to follow God alone.  The call goes out still today.  Whom will you serve? The gods of your culture? The idols fo society? Or the one true God who has so faithfully remembered His promises to you, sending Jesus Christ as a substitute for your sins, offering life instead of death?}

These words really stuck out while reading this.  I know we all think of ourselves as "Christians", going to church, being involved with other Christians, living "good"...but in the heat of the day Whom will you serve? Do you look at your life and see that you serve gods of our culture? Does God see that? Do you look at your life and see that your serving gods of our society? Does God see that you do? Maybe.  I certainly am not pointing fingers, because I know that I am NOT perfect and sometimes come to the realization that I do not serve my one true God and instead focusing on other things of this world.

This world is not my own. I will not be here forever, why would I want to give into what it has to offer when my God has offered me so much and more?

My Bible Study starts next week and I cannot wait to get back into a regular routine with God. Your devotional sounds interesting!
