Around 4:30am I hear the bedroom door open and my mom on the phone saying... "yes, we need an ambulance!" I heard the panic in her voice. I immediately jumped out of bed, screamed MAMA! and ran out of the bedroom. Once I got to the bathroom where my mom went, I saw my dad in the floor with my brother at his side trying to talk to him. My dad was having very labored breathing, he was laying face down. He was responsive but not able to talk. Once I got in there he started having another seizure, one of many that he had that day. The ambulance finally got there, it only took them about 30 minutes to respond, but it seemed like a lifetime.
We got to the small town hospital ER. He was not able to move his left side. He couldn't even look to the left. He couldn't talk, he was able to shake his head to answer yes or no. His head had a huge knot on the right side from where he fell. And his lip was swollen on the right side from where he busted it when he fell. They got him stabilized, did a CT on his head, and called his Neurologist. A little background history...(My dad had a head injury in 1988, when I was two. He had to have a plate put in his head. And from that trauma he has seizure problems. And in 2007 he had a stroke followed by seizures) After the CT they let us come in and visit again, this was about 2 hours after he got there. He was alert, able to talk and re-gaining strength and function in his left side! {PRAISE GOD!} They shipped him to the next town, where the neurologist practices at a bigger hospital. When he got there they got an MRI and several other tests to check on weather he had a stroke or just seizures.
Well, today we found out that the MRI came back showing no new stroke. They still have suspicions of a TIA or mini strokes, but no proof that they actually happened on MRI. The other tests came out fine except for the echo of his heart showed his heart not beating like they want it to, so they are thinking it might be because of him recovering still, but they will re-check that. And his chest x-ray came out fine except for the right upper lobe of his lung there was something suspicious. So he will have to make some follow up appointments with the specialists.
When he left the hospital, he was walking and talking and pretty much normal. I was so relieved. I thank God that He has the power to heal! And I think that He healed my daddy.
God is GOOD....ALL the TIME!

I am so sorry you had such a rough Christmas. I'm going to be sending some big prayers up for your dad and for your whole family.
How scary! Glad to hear he is doing better. Your poor Dad sounds like mine. He broke his neck on my 16th birthday (fell off trampoline). He has a metal plate in his neck where the bone chipped off. 5 years later he had another surgery due to the screws going loose. He also lost half of his pointer finger on his left hand when I was in junior high. SO accident proned. He has been put through the ringer for sure and my family through it right along with him. Happy New Year to you and your family!
